I have over 25 year experience in training and Breeding German Shepherds but have been involved in training dogs for 40 plus years.
As long as I can remember I have had a special bond with animals in general but dogs have been my passion. The family pet was always " my dog" I grew up with German shepherds and was always amazed at how smart they are. When my uncle came home from Germany after he retired from the Army he brought his trained German Shepherd with him and even though no one could get close to him I never had a problem helping take care of King. This was the beginning of what I now do with my dogs. Breeding isn't my main focus. improving the breed is. I have been a member of a Search and Rescue team for 20 years and was lucky enough to own one of the most amazing dogs to utilize in the work. Max pictured to the left was my partner and the beginning of a whole new breeding program. |
All of my dogs are trained to track and use their nose, most are certified in one level of Search and Rescue or the other. If the dogs I have picked to add to my breeding program can't track to suit my standards I will not breed them.
Don't get me wrong, though I focus on training in nose work these guys are extremely versatile and work in may venues of AKC evens and more.
Dargan posted to the left is one of the most amazing tracking dogs I've owned and he passes it on to his offspring.

My guys are as content just hanging out watching me and napping on a soft rug with that great off switch. I put a lot of time into training and working my dogs to get that nice off switch. These are woking dogs and working dogs need a job, if not given a job they can be a disaster to live with.
Many things go into being a good Breeder. You want to stay within the breed standard. Temperament and Health are a must and willingness to please with the drive to work are some of the things that are very important.
Argo to the right ( a Max son ) is a fine example of what I try to breed for.

Our puppies are raised as a part of our family and go through a lot of training. We take great pride in our breeding program and want that to show in every puppy that leaves our care. We are very picky where our puppies go and we only breed for something we would want for ourself.

It takes a very special puppy to go from this puppy to this adult. We have placed many puppies in Police work!!
